Mayo Clinic broke grounds on the Florida campus in 1985, opening their doors to patients on October 13, 1986. Meanwhile this new “unadvertised clinic in a forest” was making headlines throughout the United States.

    Interesting to note that the article in the Jacksonville Times Union was written by Evelyn Tovar. Evelyn later joined Mayo and is now communications manager in Public Affairs in Jacksonville.
