Mark McNeary: “A miracle of a different sort”

By Susana Shephard

For Mark McNeary, a retired music industry executive, his miracle story began shortly after finishing Saturday morning chores at his ranch in Kingman, Ariz. Sudden, searing head pain and throat problems made it clear that he needed immediate medical attention. His wife, Julie, drove him 30 miles to the nearest emergency room at Kingman Regional Medical Center, KRMC.

Once he arrived to KRMC, Mark had deteriorated quickly and could no longer walk or speak intelligibly. Watch how Mark describes the series of events that occurred over the next few days that led to his "miracle of a different sort." He shares how the Mayo Clinic Telestroke Program, through the use of a stroke robot, provided for a virtual consult with Bert Vargas, M.D., neurologist at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
