Praise and Thanks

This story was submitted by J. Daniel Skinner from Rochester

If you look at my Mayo record you will discover that I am more than a casual patient. Several Mayo staffers, doctors, nurses and others have saved my life more than once over the last few years. For this I am grateful, but that's not what moves me to write.

The other day, while I was on hemodialysis at the Eisenberg Building, I was overcome with the most painful attack of arthritis I have ever suffered. While I was well treated by the entire staff, two Mayo professionals went far beyond the call of duty to help me. Margaret (Peggy) d'Uscio and Dr Shreyasee Amin (Rheumatology) acted far beyond the scope of every day duties to help relieve my pain and get me home.

I nominate them both for the "At Mayo the Patient Comes First" award. I assume you have such an award. If not, perhaps you should!

Mayo is full of very special people, some are just a little more special to me.

Regards...Dan
