On May 13 my husband was throwing up and very lightheaded. He told me to take him to the ER. I thought he caught some kind of a flu bug. They did a CT scan and came back an hour later and told us he had pancreatic cancer. A few days later they did a liver biopsy and 2 days after that they said he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. We are both in the state of shock right now, and don’t feel like the doctors attitudes are giving us any hope. They said chemo is the only option and that one in 6 people like him last 6 months to a year. Is the Mayo Clinic a place we should be going to where they could give us some hope? What is the next step? We have had a port put in, but have not started chemo yet. The same day we got the diagnosis, we got the news his sister has passed away earlier that morning.
